I am retiring from my clinical practice May, 2025 🙂
Nonetheless, I will continue to offer consultation support to parents navigating diagnosis and services.
AND PLEASE have a look at the precious resources and referrals in the drop down menu; treasures from my career.
READ is not a "four letter word"
In a typical American classroom, one in five students struggles with literacy. I taught these individuals for 30 years. It is my goal now to help connect resources to students, parents and teachers to make reading a positive experience in children’s lives.
MISSION
Through student awareness of their language brain, it is my goal to open doors to student lead success in literacy and language arts. Together we set goals, reveal purpose and build confident readers and expressive writers.
The brain is fascinating; gathering information from the left and right hemispheres throughout the day. How that information is integrated, organized and prioritized affects individual learning styles. It is empowering for a student to discover their brain and positively claim their way of learning. Research provides clear, structured evidence-based methods to teach remedial reading. I recommend explicit and accessible tools based in phonology, multi-sensory technique and linguistics.
My personal lifetime experience with learning difficulties adds a unique determination and empathy to my teaching and consultation. It is my privilege to witness individuals' revelations of their abilities.
Why do I do it?... Amazing results happen when a team of school teachers, family and educational specialist come together to shine a light on the potential of students. It is an uplifting experience to a child. This connection reframes the learning experience. It releases classroom pressures and makes space for self-expression; essential for ultimate success.
